14 homes in Portland’s Cully neighborhood are safer, more comfortable and energy-efficient thanks to a collaboration between the Oregon Energy Fund, Burch Energy, and NW Natural. A new OEF initiative – funded by NW Natural’s Oregon Low Income Energy Efficiency program – provided new high-efficiency furnaces, appliances and weatherization at no cost to homeowners in Agape Square, a Habitat for Humanity neighborhood. The Sustainable Construction Career Fair brought together a diverse mix of workers, employers & pre-apprenticeship programs to NW Natural’s 250 Taylor facility in Portland. The event provided a chance for those ready to work to explore opportunities in various trades. The event was a collaboration between NW Natural, the Home Building Foundation, and a consortium of pre-apprenticeship trade programs including Constructing Hope Pre-Apprenticeship Program, Portland Opportunities Industrialization Center, Oregon Tradeswomen, and Portland YouthBuilders.
